Although we never met in person, Jim was a good friend. We communicated by phone and e-mail. I very much enjoyed chatting with him throughout the years I managed his web site. He was kind and had a great sense of humour. Even though it has been nearly two years since his sudden passing, I often find myself thinking of him and missing the conversations we had.
I know he touched many lives, both in his community and through the many courses he taught. If you are reading this and have a memory of Jim you would like to share, please submit it by filling in the form on the Contact page. Messages will be included here on this memorial page.

Yes Jeff, Jim was a very kind person. Just the other day a lady came up to me to remind me of the time when Jim rescued her and her granddaughter when they had gotten stuck in slush just after freeze up across the lake from our cabin. She said that she often wonders what he would say to her today and missed him.
Not a day goes by when I don't think of him and all that he did and wanted to do,...like when I would see people go by in their boats and the number of times that he towed people back to the community due to broken down outboards or pulling them out of knee deep slush in -30 degree weather.
R.I.P. MMM (My Militant Metis) I miss you terribly and the community misses you.
